Internal Audit Quick-Check: A Rapid Diagnostic Assessment of the Internal Audit Function

It is often difficult to objectively evaluate how a particular function operates within an organization. This is especially true for the internal audit function, which is responsible for assessing all other functions, while no other unit typically evaluates its own operations. For this reason, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) recommends conducting an External Quality Assessment (QA) of the internal audit function by an independent third party at least once every five years.
(More information on this service can be found under Risk Management / Internal Audit Services / External Quality Assessment of the Internal Audit Function.)

However, in some cases, a full-scope audit may not be necessary — or a brief preliminary review may be helpful in preparation for such an audit. In these situations, ABT is also at your service.

Our Quick-Check service — as the name suggests — does not constitute a full audit, but rather a rapid diagnostic assessment. It provides you with an external, objective snapshot of the current state of the internal audit function. As part of this review, we identify and present the three most significant risks we observe, along with recommendations for how to address them.
